NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- Congressman Joe Wilson, R-S.C., said he supported Project Jackson at the North Augusta Economic Update meeting Wednesday morning.
"I'd really enjoy seeing the jobs created [and] the tax base created. It's the chicken and the egg," Wilson said. "It also then leads to better school [and a] better quality of life."
If approved, Project Jackson would bring a GreenJackets baseball stadium, a hotel and other things to the North Augusta riverfront.
Project Jackson was up for a vote last week at the Aiken County Council meeting.
Aiken County Administrator Clay Killian said county attorneys determined the proposal will have to be presented to the council as an ordinance rather than a resolution.
This means before the proposal can be approved or denied, Project Jackson will need three readings before a vote can be recorded. Killian also speculates that the county will ask for a public meeting as is protocol.
