COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW)-Columbia County Commissioners approved a motion Monday morning to send a letter to Governor Nathan Deal, regarding Tax Commissioner Kay Allen.

In the letter, Columbia County Commissioners say Allen contracted with the cities of Grovetown and Harlem and kept the fee for herself instead of remitting it to the city. They say since 2009 Allen collected over $160,000.

The letter says according to Georgia law, the county government needs to report if the Tax Commissioner fails or refuses to make payment, makes a false return or fails or refuses to file a report as required.

Commissioners say the Governor now has 10 days to decide whether she'll be removed from office or if she'll keep her job.
