HARLEM, Ga. (WRDW) -- A Columbia County woman has been arrested for keeping her mother's death concealed and living with her dead body.

Denise Chinnery, 45, was arrested Sunday, charged with cruelty to an elderly person and concealing death of another.

Chinnery's sister contacted the Columbia County Sheriff's Office saying Chinnery locked herself in their deceased mother's home at 6060 Mahala Lane.

Deputies found the body of 74-year-old Catherine Simmons seated in a chair in the living room with a strong odor of decay.

Chinnery's bond was set at $15,200.
