Columbia Co. commissioners approve proposed event fee

COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- Pull out your wallet because there will now be an event fee to gather in Columbia County.

Columbia County commissioners signed an ordinance that now requires permits and fees for road races, parades and public assemblies.

The new fee will help pay for the use of all the departments needed to put on a safe event.

For nonprofits like the Jingle Jam 10k or the Wesley Methodist Church 5k, dishing out that extra cash could be hard.

The new fee was approved at the commission meeting May 21.
