AUGUSTA, Ga. -- An issue with health insurance for Augusta-Richmond County employees has a lot of people wondering if they have any coverage at all.

News 12 became aware of this after workers from various departments began contacting us. One employee said when he checked his new group number, Blue Cross Blue Shield said it was invalid.

News 12 spoke with City administrator Fred Russell, and he said Human Resources is aware of the issue and has been working to fix all of this. He went on to say HR has sent out notices, and employees need to check with human resources tomorrow.

This isn't the first time the city has seen insurance problems. Recently, there were questions of a possible conflict of interest when a consultant for the city's contract with BCBS admitted to dating someone in the company.

Last year, the insurance provider issued an apology after accidentally kicking some retirees and employees off coverage.
