EVANS, Ga. (WRDW) -- One child is dead and another is injured after a go-cart accident in Evans, Capt. Steve Morris with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said.

15-year-old Tyler Smith was hit by a Dodge Ram truck driven by 58-year-old Kenneth Gill of North Augusta.

The driver is charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree and failure to maintain lane.

It happened at the intersection of Hardy McManus and Woodruff Way. Law enforcement said the pair was clipped by a truck on Hardy McManus.

One child was pinned under the truck and was sent to the hospital via helicopter. The second child was transported by vehicle.
