NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WRDW) -- A potential victim reported a scam to North Augusta Public Safety recently and officers want to let locals know about the latest scheme.
Public Safety provided the media with the fake sweepstakes letter in question, seen below.
The target is sending a check to victims to try and get their bank account information. Once any money is transferred, it will be gone, Public Safety said. Victims will not be entered into any third party sweepstakes.
"If it looks too good to be true, it is," Public Safety said.
