UPDATE: 1 arrested after chase ends in crash, sends 3 to hospital

Monday, Jan. 14, 2013

BEECH ISLAND, S.C. (WRDW) -- A police chase ended in a wreck in Beech Island Monday morning.

It all started in Richmond County when deputies responded to a call of shots fired on Wylds Road just after midnight. When deputies got to the scene, they were given a description of the suspect vehicle, which they later found in the Checkers parking lot on Wrightsboro Road.

When deputies tried to approach the car, the driver took off.

The car later crashed into a tree on Atomic Road at Edwards Loop. When deputies arrived on scene, they found four people inside the White Chevy pickup truck.

The driver, Timothy Baughman Jr., was taken to the hospital. Baughman was later taken into custody and is charged with felony fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving and driving while license suspended. He has an outstanding superior court bench warrant.

The man sitting in the front seat was able to get out of the truck. He was later found in the woods with a broken leg. News 12 is working to find out his name.

The truck's two other passengers, a juvenile and 20-year-old Heather Coney, were taken to the hospital. There is no word on their conditions at this time.

Deputies also found a fully-loaded .357 magnum revolver inside the truck. Investigators say the shell casings from where the shots were fired match that of the revolver found in the truck.
