COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW) --The Carolina Cash 6 game from the South Carolina Education Lottery will end in October, according to a release.
The last drawing will be Thursday, Oct. 17. Players can purchase Carolina Cash 6 tickets up until 6:45 p.m. that evening for the 6:59 p.m. final drawing.
Officials say ticket sales for the game introduced on April 2 fell short of expectations.
“Our players never fully embraced the Carolina Cash 6 game, and without their support there was no reason to continue selling tickets for a game that did not generate player interest,” Lottery Executive Director Paula Harper Bethea said in a press release. “At the Education Lottery we continually refresh our products and listen to feedback from players. Our players have spoken on Carolina Cash 6. We owe it to them and to the state to discontinue the game and find other ways to maximize funding for education.”
Winning ticket holders will still have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.
Any remaining funds from the game will be given to the state to support educational initiatives in South Carolina.
