AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Howarths watched the Masters from their hotel room, a view they weren't expecting when they arrived in Augusta on Friday evening.

They traveled all the way from Toronto to experience the Masters in person for the first time.

"We go over to this company TravelMasters that have our tickets, only to be told that they have no tickets for us," said Lynn Howarth.

Over a year ago, their children planned this trip as a retirement gift.

Two payments and 12 months later, their trip was paid for -- badges, hotel and the flight.

"We paid in good faith, six to eight months ago, they've had our money," Lynn said.

The travel package included Saturday and Sunday badges for two, but those Saturday badges were nowhere to be found.

"It's not right, and it doesn't make sense to us," Lynn said.

News 12 went to TravelMasters, but no one wanted to speak. The company did say it was shorted over 85 badges, two of which were supposed to go to the Howarths.

After being told the bad news, the couple then asked for a refund, but the company said it didn't have the money.

"Our kids who paid out all that money, they should certainly get reimbursed for what they paid," said Doug Howarth.

The travel company said it would refund the Saturday tickets, but the Howarths aren't worried about the money.

"No, you can never replace the excitement we've had to the build up of this Masters," Doug said.

A memory they may never get a chance to remember, but they say they hope their story can warn others to think before they trust someone with their money.
