AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A Burke County teacher turned herself in Tuesday morning on allegations of a sexual encounter with a student, the Burke County Sheriff's Office said.
The Burke County Board of Education and the Sheriff’s Office started an investigation into the alleged incident with a 16-year-old student.
Ashley Nichole Ashe, 25, has been charged with aggravated child molestation. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave, the Burke County School System said.
Ashe is a Burke County High School English Language Arts teacher, according to the school's website.
She is awaiting a bond hearing scheduled for Friday.
