AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A judge set bond for the suspect in May's Paine College shooting on Friday.
Xavier Cooper's bond was set at $54,000. Cooper's lawyer asked the judge to move Cooper to DeKalb County where his family lives. The judge barred Cooper, 20, from Richmond County and can only return from DeKalb County for court.
The shooting on Paine College's campus that injured one student may have stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong, Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree said in May.
Cooper is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm on school building, grounds or function.
The student victim was 21-year-old JaJuan Baker. The judge ordered Cooper to have no contact with the victim or any of the victim's family.
