AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Hephzibah Police Department found a body evening in a field yesterday.
The body of Damon Terrell Prymus, 27, was found off of Williams and Wilson Roads in Hephzibah shortly after 6 p.m., the coroner said. Investigators say the body was found next to a small cluster of trees right off of the road. The case is being investigated as a murder.
Today, they searched that field and his house on North Barton Drive off Mike Padgett Highway. His neighbors said the area is usually pretty quiet and were shocked at the news.
Ayzeil Thurmond lived next door to him for a little over a year. He got to know Prymus relatively well. Thurmond says, "It was a surprise, it was crazy, it was a shock, and it's sad, you know what i'm saying, because nobody deserves that."
An autopsy by the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta is pending.
