UPDATE: Man accidentally drowned in Lincoln County

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- The man who was found in the Savannah River just off the Chamberlain's Ferry Boat landing area drowned by accident, the Lincoln County coroner said.

Boaters found 36-year-old Wayne Patrick Mravlja of Blythe just after 4 p.m. on July 11 in Lincoln County, the coroner said. His body was found near an island.

A car belonging to Mravlja was found parked near the water and was impounded, officials said.

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- The body of a man recovered from the Savannah River has been identified by the Lincoln County Coroner's Office, as 36-year-old Wayne Patrick Mravlja of Blythe.

According to the coroner, Mravlja was found Friday at around 4 p.m. on an island 100 yards off shore near the parking area on Chamberlain's Ferry Road in Lincoln County.

A car belonging to Mravlja was found parked near the water and was impounded, officials said. The preliminary cause of death appears to be drowning, the Sheriff's Office said. The cause of death will not be confirmed until after full autopsy is completed on Monday.

"Our natural resource in Clarks Hill is a great tourist attraction for our community," Beggs said in a release. "We want to remind all of those visit us to be vigilant concerning their safety. Please remember to always swim with a buddy and have sufficient life jackets and other safety equipment when boating."

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office and DNR are still investigating the incident.
