AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- Mayoral candidate Helen Blocker-Adams is addressing the public a week before election day about alleged civil suits against her.
After a review of Aiken County online court documents, News 12 found several civil court cases listed against Blocker-Adams that each go back at least 10 years.
One of those cases comes from a $32,000 personal loan. Another from a $30,000 car loan for a Ford Expedition that was later repossessed and resold. And third a home foreclosure after Blocker-Adams says she was unable to make an unexpected balloon payment.
Blocker-Adams says that she made payments on all of those debts from 1997 to 2005 but then stopped. She says she was some sort of correspondence from those creditors saying that those debts were paid but has not released that correspondence.
Aiken County's Clerk of Courts office tells News 12 that anytime a civil judgment is settled a letter of satisfaction is enter into the system. No letter's of satisfaction had been entered in these three matters as of Tuesday afternoon.
