Beech Island man arrested in Augusta after standoff

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A Beech Island man was arrested in Augusta by the U.S. Marshals on Friday.

Cornelius Antonio Cullum, 35, was wanted in Aiken County on distribution of cocaine base and oxycodone charges.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office issued the warrant for Cullum in August 2012.

A standoff ensued between Cullum and law enforcement at a home on Walden Drive on Friday.

Cullum was eventually taken into custody. He is being held at the Richmond County Jail and is awaiting extradition to South Carolina.

Cullum is said to have a criminal history that extends through Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. His previous arrests have been on charges of grand larceny, accessory, assault and battery with intent to kill, criminal sexual conduct, criminal sexual conduct with a minor, criminal domestic violence, traffic offenses, weapon offenses, fleeing, probation violations and parole violations.
