Barnwell woman charged with embezzlement

BLACKVILLE, S.C. (WRDW) -- An employee of a Blackville group home was arrested by SLED agents Thursday for allegedly stealing money from the facility, according to a release.

Shannon Keller Doak, 38, was charged with one count of embezzlement of public funds of $18,535. The charge is a felony that holds a prison sentence of up to ten years and a fine in proportion to the amount of embezzled funds, according to a release.

Doak was booked at the Barnwell County Detention Center.

SLED conducted the investigation after the Barnwell County Sheriff's Department's request.
