Evans, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Lakeside High School Marching band has already hit the field for their annual summer band camp.

Band Director David Tau says he always wants to make sure his students are staying safe out in the sun.

"We have to keep track of the wet bulb globe thermometer reading and, based upon a standard they give us we have to vary our practice length or what we do during the practice," Tau said.

Drum Major Aaron Thompson says the band has plenty of water available for students and they take breaks every 15 to 20 minutes.

Tau says they follow guidelines set by the Georgia High School Activities Association.
