Columbia County, GA (WRDW) - Construction begins Monday for a new BMX track and skate park in Columbia County.

Blanchard Woods Park on Hereford Farm Road is closed from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon Monday through Friday.

Officials say the work will take 12 weeks and they hope to have it up and running by September.

The park has been in the works for 9 years. The $750,000 project is paid for with recreation sales tax money.

Once the park is finished, the Columbia County Commission hopes locals will enjoy the park and host regional matches.

You can still go to the park on the weekends and after 5pm during the week.
