AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The autopsy results have been released for the suspect who was shot and killed by a Richmond County deputy on Friday.
GBI Special Agent Pat Morgan says the autopsy shows Chaz Williams died of multiple gunshot wounds. The GBI will not release the number of times Williams was hit at this time.
The autopsy also revealed Williams had two self-inflicted cuts on his neck.
Morgan says they have a few more people they need to interview before the investigation is wrapped up.
It all started around 2:20 a.m. on Friday as a vehicle pursuit. Deputies say Williams hit something, then got out of his car and ran away from the scene. He was later found at the Fox Den Apartments on Fox Trace Drive. The GBI says deputies tried to take Williams into custody at the apartment, but an altercation ensued between Williams and the deputies, which is when Williams was shot by Deputy Michael Woodard.
Williams was a father and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
