Augusta woman accused of abusing family friend's child

Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- An Augusta woman has been arrested on child cruelty charges.

The victim, the mother of a 6-year-old boy, says she asked Julia Ann Baitmon to keep her children from Feb. 15 to Feb. 19.

The victim claims that when Baitmon brought her child back, she saw her 6-year-old son walking with a limp. Her son claims Baitmon spanked him with a plastic bat.

The child's mother said she found welt marks along his leg and buttocks.

The 6-year-old was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Baitmon was taken into custody at her home without incident. She is charged with first-degree cruelty to children.
