AUGUSTA, Ga. -- The city of Augusta's Information Technology Department has received a national honor.
Augusta is ranked No. 6 in top digital city governments for cities with a population between 125,000 and 249,999. This is the third year Augusta has made the list, which is compiled by e.Republic's Center for Digital Government and Digital Communities Program.
According to the program, cities who won used technology "to cut costs, promote operational efficiencies, engage citizens and realize strategic objectives despite current fiscal constraints."
"Our IT Department is simply the one of the best in the business and I applaud them for this well-deserved national recognition," said Mayor Deke Copenhaver in a news release.
