AUGUSTA, Ga. -- A 69-year-old Augusta man is now half a million dollars richer after winning an instant game from the Georgia Lottery.
Samuel Testino won the top prize in the $500,000 Green game. Testino bought his ticket at the DLS Gas Station on Mike Padgett Highway.
He says he bought four tickets and was shocked when he scratched off the top prize.
"And I couldn't believe it. So what I did, I came back up and I said, 'I gotta have somebody to verify this.' So I asked the girl that sold me the ticket, I held it in front of her and I said, 'Is this real? Did I really win?' and she said, 'Yes, you've won half a million dollars,'" Testino said.
The father of five won the money on his youngest son's birthday.
Testino says he plans on retiring, playing a lot of golf and getting rid of all his debt.
Profits from the Georgia Lottery go to educational programs throughout the state, including the HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program.
