AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A former hospital worker at Georgia Regents Medical Center has been indicted on sexual battery charges.

Bernard Edwards, a former mental health technician, is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery, two counts of sexual assault against a patient in a hospital, simple battery and child molestation.

District Attorney Ashley Wright says Edwards' arraignment is set for March 28 at 9 a.m.

Georgia Regents Medical Center issued the following statement on Edwards:
"The arrest of Bernard Edwards, a former Mental Health Technician at Georgia Regents Medical Center, is a pending criminal matter and no further comment concerning the facts of his case will be issued at this time. His employment with the institution has been terminated and we will continue to partner with investigating agencies and the Georgia Attorney General's office to resolve this matter.

This is an unfortunate and regrettable occurrence and in no way reflects the behavior and character of Georgia Regents Medical Center employees. The safety and security of our patients is our top priority and we will continue to take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and staff."
