Augusta and CSRA see drops in unemployment rate

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- The Georgia Department of Labor announced that metro Augusta's unemployment rate decreased to 8.5 percent in August. The rate was 9.1 percent in July.

Also from the Georgia Department of Labor, the unemployment rate in the Central Savannah River Area decreased to 9.6 percent in August, which is up down and from 10.4 percent in July.

Georgia's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for July was 8.8 percent, up from 8.5 percent in June. The rate was 9.1 percent in July a year ago.
