Augusta Commissioner changes mind about run for mayor

For two years in a row, Commissioner Joe Jackson has donated his Masters badge to a member of the military for a day, and he says he'll probably continue to do so. (April 9, 2010 / WRDW-TV)

AUGUSTA,, Ga. (WRDW) -- An Augusta commissioner said he is bowing out of the race to fill the mayor's seat.

Joe Jackson said he is now throwing his support behind Fred Russell, who has yet to announce his intent to run.

This will be Deke Copenhaver's last year as Mayor. Jackson is one of two commissioners who had plan to run to take over the job. The other is Alvin Mason.
