AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Commissioners are one step closer to coming up with a plan for fixing the flooding problems in downtown Augusta. But they want to be clear: They have not voted on a tax yet.

On Wednesday night, they approved moving forward with getting bids for engineering companies and taking inventory of the stormwater and pipe systems around town.

That's the first step in determining how much money will be needed to fix the problems.

City leaders say we won't see a vote on the actual fee for a year and a half or two years.
