LINCOLN COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW) -- Two men are charged with criminal trespass and possession of certain controlled substances, after Lincoln County deputies said they gathered mushrooms at a cow pasture.
The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said 22-year-old Kevin Johnson and 27-year-old Ryan Gillian were arrested Saturday evening on private property. Deputies said the men were picking mushrooms they believed to contain Psilocybin, which could be used as a psychedelic drug. Sometimes known as "magic mushrooms" or "shrooms", the sheriff's office said they are considered a controlled substanced under Georgia law.
In a press release, Sheriff Bruce Beggs said, "This is not the type of drug cases that are frequently made here and the experience of the officers along with their good response resulted in the apprehension of the suspects."
