Arrest made in overnight Aiken shooting

​The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a shooting incident that occurred Saturday night near 3001 Vaucluse Road. One man has been arrested.

On July 20, 2013 around 11:34 pm, the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a witness about someone being shot that was lying in the street near 3001 Vaucluse Road.

Sheriff's deputies located the victim who appeared to have been injured from multiple gunshot wounds. With the help of witnesses, Sheriff's Investigators were able to identify and locate the suspect, Demetris Williams, 27, of Aiken, at his residence on Eutaw Street.

The victim was transported by Aiken County EMS to the hospital for treatment for his injuries, where currently his condition is unknown. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Aiken County Detention Center where he is expected to be charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
