AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Richmond County deputies have made an arrest in Wednesday night's shooting on Amsterdam Drive.

Verdre Lamont Scott, 16, was arrested Thursday morning and has been charged with felony murder. Scott will be charged as an adult.

Investigators say Scott and 16-year-old Martez Davis attempted to rob 17-year-old Erick Gibbons Jr. at gunpoint in the backyard of a home on the 2300 block of Amsterdam Drive. Gibbons was also armed and returned fire, hitting Davis.

Davis was found dead at the scene.

Gibbons will be charged with theft by taking motor vehicle, as he is accused of stealing a truck from the Sprint gas station on Gordon Highway minutes before the shooting. Gibbons was shot during the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment. He will be taken to the Richmond County Jail.

Scott will be taken to the Augusta Youth Development Campus.
