AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Deputies have made an arrest in connection to a stabbing on Fenwick Street Tuesday night.

Charles Thomas Beveridge, 46, was arrested inside a home on the 1800 block of Fenwick Street.

Witnesses say Beveridge was drunk and started cursing at them and the victim. They told him to leave them alone, at which point, they say he returned with a knife in hand.

The victim was on the phone and asked him to be quiet, which is when witnesses say Beveridge started stabbing her. Investigators say the woman was stabbed five times in the chest and back.

The victim was taken to the hospital for her injuries. Her condition is not known at this time.
