Augusta, Ga. (WRDW) -- In the words of the spokesman for Cabela's Outdoor Store, "Augusta lives the Cabela's lifestyle."
That phrase can now be deemed correct as Cabela's officially opens their doors to the public in the CSRA.
"It's a new adventure for us and the southeast is a territory we haven't explored yet," said Wes Remmer, with Cabela's.
He's certainly right. This store marks the outdoor chains 51st store in the nation. It's the first in Georgia and the southeast.
After Cabela's announced it's venture to the area, construction began immediately off Riverwatch Parkway, an ideal location for the outdoor store putting it hundreds of feet from the Augusta Canal.
Remmer says Augusta was a perfect location to begin the journey to the southeast.
The store contains everything from guns to kayaks, fishing gear to camping equipment, clothing to meat slicers.
You would also be able to get your fishing license at the store.
More than a day before Cabela's opened, a line outside was already forming.
Tracy Lingle secured his spot in line a little after four on Wednesday morning, the first person in line.
"We wanted to get out a little earlier, maybe even on Tuesday, because we really wanted to be the first in line," he said,
His reasons include free prizes from Cabela's ranging anywhere from hundreds of dollars in gift cards to a grand prize of $1,000 bucks.
Inside, store employees still working hard to make last-minute changes to a store fully-stocked with outdoor gear.
It's a day all employees and people in Augusta have been looking forward to, and now it's finally here.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 10:45. Shortly after, doors will open at 11 a.m.
