Another candidate joins race for Richmond Co. sheriff

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- News 12 has just confirmed that Attorney Freddie Sanders will be running on the Republican ticket for Richmond County sheriff.

Sanders said he will be officially announcing in the next couple days.

He was chief of the Richmond County Police Department from 1983 to 1985. The police department was started in 1983 and was later pulled back into the Sheriff's Office.

Sanders has been an attorney for over 30 years.
