Overnight fire causes major damage to Burke Co. store

GIRARD, Ga. (WRDW) -- An overnight fire caused major damage to a store in Burke County.

Firefighters got to the scene of the Girard Mall around 1:04 a.m. and were able to get the fire under control in about 45 minutes.

Officials say the building has extensive damage. One engine company is on the scene conducting salvage and overhaul.

The store was closed at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
