ALLENDALE, S.C. (WRDW)- Allendale Town Administrator DeWayne Ennis decided to take a leave of absence without pay, according to the town's attorney Marty Harvey.
Harvey said he was made aware of a threat of a civil liability case against Ennis. He began investigating the claims and turned his partial findings over to the Town Council Aug. 15, Harvey said.
Harvey said that's when Ennis decided to take a leave of absence without pay, which is allowed in his contract. Right now Ennis' return date is Sept. 15, Harvey said.
Harvey said he's still investigating the allegations and plans to present his final findings the week of Labor Day. That's when the Council could decide to fire Ennis or ask him to return earlier than Sept. 15, Harvey said.
Harvey said there have been no criminal allegations against Ennis, and he has not been fired.
