AIKEN, SC (WRDW)- An Aiken County woman was arrested for ill treatment of animals and ticketed for unsanitary conditions.

Officials say Cottie Ledford was arrested Wednesday night after a neighbor called about a dead dog under Ledford's trailer.

Bobby Arthurs with Aiken County Animal Control said when they got to Ledford's home, they found six other malnourished dogs inside. Then, one of the dogs died while being transported to Animal Control.

The dogs are expected to fully recover, according to Aiken County Animal Control. The dogs are not up for adoption at this time because they are part of an investigation.

Ledford has a history of other charges against her.
