AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW) -- A man called 911 and said he was shot twice and was laying in the bushes Thursday afternoon, the Aiken Department of Public Safety said.

The man who called 911 and the suspect have not been located as of 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, ADPS said. Deputies and officers were searching Richland Avenue West near the Quality Inn.

As of 6 p.m., there was no sign of the possible shooter or victim.

Witnesses at a local Walmart reported seeing the assault and that the victim's family was left at Walmart so the victim could follow the suspect in a truck.

Most units were clearing after an assault was not found on Walmart surveillance and there were no gunshot victims in area hospitals.

ADPS was performing a ground search with the Sheriff's Office and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. Deputies were also looking for a possible abandoned vehicle.
