UPDATE: Aiken Public Safety, dog teams searching for suspect in 2 robberies

AIKEN, S.C. -- Aiken Public Safety responded to two armed robberies on Whiskey Road Monday night.

Public Safety officers responded to the Petsmart store on the 2500 block of Whiskey Road around 9:40 p.m. in reference to a robbery.

Officers say the victims were approached by a man who was armed with what appeared to be an assault rifle.The robber was able to get away.

A short time later, officers were called to a Subway restaurant on the 700 block of Silver Bluff Road for an armed robbery. The suspect was described as a heavyset white male who was armed with an assault rifle.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and then fled into a light blue sedan. It's unknown what make or model.

The items belonging to the victims from the first incident were found outside the Subway restaurant.

The dog team was called out to search at both locations.
