AIKEN, S.C. -- Aiken officers are searching for an armed robbery suspect outside the South Carolina State Credit Union on Beaufort Street.
The immediate area was searched with assistance from the Aiken County Bloodhounds and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Officers say the suspect entered the credit union around 9 a.m. and said that he wanted to open an account, but he was told he would need to provide a Social Security card.
They say he then left but returned a little while later and gave the teller a note saying, "Give me all your money." He also indicated he had a gun but did not show any weapon.
Authorities say they believe the suspect ran from the scene toward Richland Avenue and left in a faded blue Crown Victoria with two other men.
The suspect is described as a 30-year-old black male, around 5'10" and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing an orange hard hat, an oversized black Polo shirt with a number two on the back, blue jeans and boots.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers of the Midlands at 888-CRIMESC. Callers will remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.
