AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW) -- A family member has been charged with murder after three bodies were found in the woods following a brush fire in south Augusta on Tuesday.
Ryan David Jones is charged with is charged with three counts of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. He was initially held as a person of interest before being charged.
Ryan is the son of homicide victims Roosevelt and Edna Jones. His brother, Russell, was also killed.
After the bodies were found, investigators were called to the Jones family home on Pinnacle Place Drive for a welfare check. Steve Jones called police saying he had not heard from his parents or Russell since Monday.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says deputies found large amounts of blood inside the home.
Autopsy results indicate each victim was shot at least once, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. Investigators say ballistics evidence matched a firearm belonging to Ryan.
The Sheriff's Office is waiting on dental confirmation to officially identify the victims, but according to a news release, they "have no reason to believe that the bodies located off of Matthew Court are anyone other than the remains of Roosevelt, Edna and Russell Jones."
