Teen dies in accident on way home from school

JEFFERSON CTY, Ga.---A 15-year-old Bartow girl is dead after an SUV flipped during the drive home from school.

16-year-old Hannah Sheppard ran off the Mennonite Church Road, overcorrected, and the vehicle flipped. Sheppard was treated at MCG hospital and released.

However, back seat passenger Joyce Warnock of Bartow was not wearing her seatbelt. She was thrown out and the vehicle landed on top of her.

A front seat passenger, 16-year-old Brittany Williford, was treated at Jefferson County Hospital and released.

There will be a memorial for Joyce Warnock at Jefferson County High School at 10:30 am Saturday, followed by the funeral.
