AUGUSTA, Ga.---An Augusta family is homeless after a house fire on Dresden Way.
It happened around 2 am at 3216 Dresden Way. Investigators say the home is a total loss.
Firefighters aren't sure where the fire started, but witnesses tell News 12 they believe it started in the garage.
A family lived in the home, but everyone made it out okay.
"Me and my girlfriend were coming up Walton Way," one witness said. "As we were coming up, we were smelling smoke. We followed the smoke smell right to this house, saw it on fire. It was burning and started in the garage and spread from there."
The cause has not been determined yet. Investigators will be working through the day to try and figure it out.
