Development planned for Graniteville

September 4, 2007

GRANITEVILLE, S.C.---There could be good news for Graniteville. An investment group is trying to buy several closed textile mills there to reposition them as apartments, condominiums, offices and shops, while maintaining their historic character.

Weldon Wyatt is leading a group of investors who want to buy 1700 acres of industrial property. He wants to turn the area into a destination and plans to maintain the old Graniteville Mill, turning it into a textile museum.
