AUGUSTA, Ga.---You can watch her Monday through Friday on News 12. And now, Oprah could be coming to Augusta.

It's no hoax...Oprah could be coming to Augusta. Candye Smith says she's been writing to the Oprah Show for two years now and never got a response. Just this Wednesday, she says, "I saw Harpo Inc., and I screamed when I picked up the phone."

Candye now has to send in a five-minute video by next Thursday showing off city hot spots. It's a challenge but Candye has got help. Deanna Brown, daughter of the late James Brown says, "Oprah, when you come down to Augusta you're gonna put the 'O' in soul, and I promise you'll be saying 'Ooh...I feel good!'"

Deanna says she is glad to lend her support. "Anything I could do to help the mayor and the city of Augusta to do what Dad wanted...he knew that this was a special place."

Mayor Deke Copenhaver says, "Augusta's got so many great things going right now. We've got a great story to tell her...I would be more than happy for her to come to town."

And the Mayor is not alone. Annalee Narwold says, "It would just be amazing. Augusta has so much to offer her and so much to show her."

Even the kids at Heritage Academy got in on the action, screaming "Oprah, we love you!" for the camera.

As for Candye, she says it's not a matter of if Oprah comes...but when. "We know she likes some of that Southern hospitality. We are gonna give her some of that. So let's get her here, Augusta!"

So why do you think Oprah should come to Augusta? Post your thoughts in the comments!
