AUGUSTA, GA-- A 10-year-old Augusta girl says she was waiting at her bus stop this morning when a man tried to force her into his car. Richmond County Sheriff's Office Investigators are now asking for the public's help to find the possible suspect.

"He needs to stay in jail for the rest of his life after what he has done." words spoken by the 10-year-old girl who we'll call Nicole, in order to protect her identity.

She says the man approached her this morning while she was at her bus stop. "I was standing at the stop right there and the guy was looking at me in the blue Toyota and I was wondering why is he sitting there for?"

Nicole's mother says she had just pulled out of the family's driveway to drive Nicole's older sister to her bus stop just up the road. That's when Nicole says the man made his move. "He came up and he stopped and he opened the back door of the car and told me to get in and I said no and he told me to get in again, and I said no. Then, he came up to me and hit me."

Nicole also told investigators they man lifted his shirt and showed a handgun. She says she then escaped by running to a neighbors house and calling for help. Her mother says she is still shaken up by the close call. "If he tried to take her, then he done did it before, he did it before. And I'm standing here lucky but someone else my not be so lucky."

Nicole's mother says after this, her four children will no longer be bus riders. Now, she wants other mother's to be warned. "My child was right in front of her house and if this can happen to her, it can happen anywhere. If you can take your child to and from school, please do."

Richmond County investigators are calling this is a possible attempted kidnapping because no one else was around to see what happened. Sgt. Roundtree says investigators spent the day looking into sex offenders living in the area as well as checking into other possible leads.

They do have a description of the suspect based on Nicole's account. He's described as a light skinned black male with a short afro and a beard on the chin. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and blue tennis shoes. He was seen driving a light blue four door vehicle with tinted windows. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080.
