Wreck on I-20 bridge over Savannah River

August 21, 2007

GEORGIA/SOUTH CAROLINA STATE LINE---A maintenance engineer will check the I-20 bridge over the Savannah River after a wreck involving an SUV and a large truck during the morning rush hour.

The SUV was pinned against the inside lane bridge railing on I-20 eastbound.

There were no serious injuries from the wreck, which slowed traffic for quite awhile. Traffic on I-20 into South Carolina was down to one lane.

The DOT tells News 12 there shouldn't be any structural damage from that type of impact, but they'll make sure there wasn't any.
