With plenty of hot days still ahead, you may be wondering how to bring down your electric bill while your A/C is running on full blast.

The best way to lower your electric bill this time of year is also one that no one will do this time of year. That's to turn off the air conditioner in your home.

Now that that's out of the way, how about a few ideas that are a little more realistic.

The first one is something you may never have thought of, unplug your cell phone charger when you're not using it.

It does draw a decent amount of energy even when it's not charging.

Second, find a way to turn off the clocks on your tv's, dvd players and cable boxes.

Another thing that i'm guilty of, turn off your home computer when you're not using it. You also may want to consider buying a laptop, they waste a lot less energy than a desktop.

Experts say the power a typical household wastes each year is equivalent to running a 60-watt light bulb non-stop for an entire year.

These ideas won't save you thousands of dollars, but they could save you hundreds. That's money you could be spending on other things.
