AIKEN CTY, S.C.---On the elementary school level, the Aiken County School District has added more physical education teachers.
The extra teachers are needed to meet the state regulation of having 600 students to 1 teacher. That's down from last year's ration of 700 to 1.
This year, elementary students will get 60 minutes of physical education per week.
That'll change next year when it increased to 90 minutes of PE a week.
More teachers will be needed next year, as the ratio drops to 500 students to 1 teacher.
