Severe weather around area; some reports of hail

Thunderstorms rolled across the CSRA this afternoon. A caller reported hail the size of a nickel in Aiken County.

Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire at Cobbham Road at Ray Owens Road.

Traffic signals were out on Pleasant Home Road at Washington Road in Martinez, possibly due to a transformer fire near that location. Traffic signals were also not working properly on Atomic Road at Beech Island Avenue in Aiken County.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported downed trees on SC 191 at Trolley Line Road; Veterans Road at the Edisto River Bridge; Water Wheel Road at SC 302; Old Jackson Highway at Sandbar Ferry Road; and SC 4 at Kittery Road, among other areas.

There were also trees in the roadway at Lott Bluff Road at Gardenia Road and on Healing Springs Road from SC 3 towards SC 37 in Bamberg County; Highway 3 towards Springfield in Blackville; and SC 4 in Springfield.
