Five people in our region are dead due to the heat, including a local woman.

69-year-old Constance Hull of Burke County was found dead Saturday (August 4) in her trailer on Hometract Road. The Burke County coroner says she died of heat exhaustion. The temperature in her trailer was about 130 degrees when she was found.

In northwest Georgia, the body of a 65-year-old man from Floyd County was found Monday. The air conditioning in his trailer wasn't working.

An 87-year-old Atlanta woman was found dead in her apartment on Sunday.

In South Carolina, a 46-year-old Columbia man died from complications from a heat stroke. He passed out as he worked at a garbage removal business last week when it was 106 degrees. He died at a hospital Monday.

And a 68-year-old woman in Greenville County was found dead in her apartment last Friday. The woman had electricity and fans, but they weren't being used.
